PowerChina Nuclear Power Company: First Synchronization to the Grid Successful for Unit 2 of Datang Douhe CHP
At 2:18 a.m. on August 22, Unit 2 of the Datang International Douhe 2×660MW combined heat and power (CHP) project, undertaken by PowerChina Nuclear Power Company, successfully synchronized to the grid for the first time in a single attempt. The unit is now officially capable of generating electricity, laying the groundwork for the subsequent 168-hour full-load trial operation and commissioning.
Located in Kaiping District, Tangshan, Hebei Province, the project is a reconstruction and expansion on the original site. Two newly built domestically produced ultra-supercritical coal-fired CHP units are being added, along with supporting flue gas treatment facilities. After commissioning, the annual power supply is expected to reach 5.60736 million MWh, and the annual heat supply 11.4778 million GJ. During the heating season, the heat-to-power ratio will reach 148.49%.
During the sprint phase, the project team stayed on duty around the clock and worked in close coordination with multiple parties. With mechanisms such as a “24-hour duty roster” and “dedicated personnel tracking,” they overcame key challenges and completed critical milestones including boiler ignition. The unit has now entered the commissioning and optimization stage. The team will make every effort to advance the follow-up work and ensure commissioning to a high standard.
