China Power Construction Completes and Hands Over Hydropower Plant in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Recently, the Ulog Hydropower Plant in Bosnia and Herzegovina, built by Sinohydro Bureau 7 under China Power Construction, was completed and handed over. This is the first hydropower plant built by a Chinese enterprise in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and also China Power Construction’s first hydropower EPC project in Europe.

The plant is located in Kalinovik, Republika Srpska of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It has a maximum dam height of 53 meters and a total reservoir capacity of 6.44 million cubic meters. With two generating units, the total installed capacity is 35.14 MW, and the average annual power generation is 82.34 million kWh. After being put into operation, it can save 33,000 tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 86,000 tons, improving local power supply capacity and reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

China Power Construction entered the Bosnia and Herzegovina market in 2012 and has also built a number of landmark projects such as the Ivovik Wind Farm (the largest energy project in Bosnia and Herzegovina undertaken by a Chinese enterprise) and the Solarbos 132 MW photovoltaic project (the largest PV project in Bosnia and Herzegovina).
